about

This is an album about special occasions/holidays/etc... It's an angry album--much angrier than my usual fare. All the songs are about frustration, loss, cruelty, isolation, self-destructive behavior, or regret.

I think it's that my mother died on May 15th (hence the album cover) and although I had written and possibly even recorded many of these songs before then, that brought things to a head for me, through a sharply different focus on the world. I hope you'll overlook the anger, angst, vulgarity, and sheer malice of these songs and find the underlying humor in them (all but the last, I think.)

I truly hope to get back to being my normal, jovial self after this, and I think this album is instrumental in my attempt to get back there. Thanks for reading, and for listening.
