This fragment of a song literally came to me while driving home from work more than a decade ago (back when I held a day job) under a sky of deep, dreary gray, with a single hole in the cloud cover far to the northeast, behind which was what felt like the brightest, bluest sky I'd ever seen.
I wanted to do more with it, but never did. More recently, my attitudes on songs have shifted a bit. There's no law that a song has to be x minutes long, or three verses, with choruses in-between. I eschewed my own suversive helotry to structuralism, here, choosing instead to define a single moment in time of angst with just a hint of far-off hope.
