I have friends who work conventions, selling hand-crafted and artisan-designed geeky stuff, and other geeky accoutrements: Geeky Endeavors. One of them sells a lot of dice in a peculiar way. He described his process online last week thusly:
I sell shiny math rocks to all the little dice goblins at conventions. When they say, "I don't need more dice." What they are actually telling me is, "I'm going to buy some. Please show me the good stuff."
Yes, I even call them shiny math rocks to my customers. I'll sometimes elaborate with, "They make the click clack sound." And nod sagely. You really don't want to know how well this works on ya'll as a sales tactic. I'm not entirely proud.
I was immediately inspired. And so was born this simple, crazy song about a goblin selling dice to dice goblins at conventions. Please enjoy the Shiny Math Rocks.
